​ Producing ethylene from food waste without greenhouse gas emissions

 

A research team at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) have developed a process technology and catalyst for removing hydrogen sulphide from the process of ethylene production from methane in biogas.  This biogas contains a significant amount  ofhydrogen sulfide, which interferes with the catalytic reaction in ethylene production. The new technology improves the ethylene production by oxidizing and removing hydrogen sulfide during the production process. This creates a biogas that burns cleaner with less pollution.
